Thanks Shawn! I appreciate your taking the time to share all of this-especially your observation about the bottles. Glass does conduct heat really well, so why wouldn't an insulation of just slip-coated straw or sawdust be better than one…

hey shawn yes, the door is made of oven mix - i made it as an experiment and kept on using it as a fire door and the baking door as well with the assistance of rags around the top perimeter are you building a house as well? doug
